Homework

**2nd Grade Homework Expectations**

Yearlong Expectations:

We expect students to read nightly for the most growth and learning to be accomplished, but understand that this may not always happen. Therefore, each teacher has a reading log (it may look slightly different from the other teachers) and students must fill out their reading log according to teacher expectations (due on Fridays).

Math Homework is dependent on each teacher. There may be times when it comes home nightly or periodically that week. A homework sheet will be in the child's "return to school" section of their folder if they have it. Math journal assignments will be written in their planner if assigned.

Writing will be assigned occasionally.  To improve our % of proficient on the ISTEP rubric, we will assign a writing task to be completed at home.

Word Study words - 10 word study words will be brought home on Mondays. Your child has been pretested on second grade words and they will be choosing from words they need to practice.  Tests will be given on Fridays.

In conclusion, students should be working for 20-30 minutes on reading, math, or word study each night.
